Technology Development

The Technology Development Program is TRANSCOM’s capital program and multi-agency Intelligent Transportation Systems testbed. With funding from the Federal Highway Administration, the Technology Development Program tests and implements transportation management technologies to improve the quality, timeliness, and dissemination of information to its member agencies and the public. Consistent with TRANSCOM’s regional perspective, this program focuses on initiatives that are most efficiently done as collective or regional efforts.

The following is a brief listing of TRANSCOM’s Technology Development projects:

bullet

TRANSMIT: Uses vehicles equipped with transponders for electronic toll-collection as probes on roadways, for real-time determination of travel times and speeds and the detection of incidents.

bullet

TRANSCOM Regional Architecture: Integrates member agencies’ ITS, allowing for the electronic sharing of information among the agencies’ operations centers.

bullet

Trips123: The NY/NJ/CT Model Deployment Initiative shall utilize information from the TRANSCOM Regional Architecture and other systems to provide real-time information and transit trip planning services to allow for more informed travel decisions by the general public.

bullet

Interagency Remote Video Network (IRVN): Enables the sharing of member agencies’ CCTV feeds.
